The Cadets, one of the most honored drum corps in the world, announced their production for the 2013 season entitled Side by Side. The concept is based on contrast, comparison, and conflict and the production will musically and visually express this idea through different elements. My proposal for the identity of the 2013 show appeared on the corps' first tour apparel and was utilized in the summer tour video series featuring the corps. The graphic idea is simple and in line with the production’s concept. By placing two chevrons facing each other side by side, it forms the letter “X” which stands for the word “by.” The corps performed the music of Samuel Barber, a classical American composer, and so a classic typeface was chosen to complement the tone of the music.
