Wyly Theatre Signage

Designed by REX and OMA, the Wyly Theatre in Dallas is part of a complex at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Along with standard building graphics, the New York-based multidisciplinary firm, 2×4, was responsible for the perforated aluminum typography on the curtain wall. It was achieved by drilling holes into the aluminum and inserting huge light tubes inside. It’s a bit hard to read from a distance, but a very cool application.
2×4 was recently featured on Design Observer for a Tokyo exhibition and a new book It Is What It Is. See more work by 2×4 on their site, and see more images of the Wyly Theatre on theĀ REX site.
